News, Awards & Reviews
2010 Swinto
90 points "A pitch-black color is a good indication of the power and concentration this old-vine Malbec has in store. Aromas of blackberry, fir forest and ink set up an over-the-top-rich palate, with heavy extraction and giant flavors of minty blackberry and chocolate. Pull out the knife and fork to cut through the deep, chocolaty finish. Drink now through 2017.”

2009 Swinto
89 points "(aged for 15 months in all-new Allier oak): Deep, saturated ruby. The aromas of dark berries and chocolatey oak show an almost porty ripeness. Large-scaled, pliant and rich, with a distinct sweetness to the black cherry and molten chocolate flavors. This huge, mouthcoating wine comes across as a bit one-dimensional.”

2010 AR Guentota
91 Points | Gold Medal | Best Value Argentine Malbec "Opaque to black Red with deep stained legs. Aromas of black raspberries, blackberry, black cherry, dark chocolate, toasted almonds, Reeses pieces, allspice, cardamom, S'mores and brisket. Succulent tannins frame flavors of black fruits, roasted fondant, mocha java and vanilla. There's an animal quality to it in a good way like a Cote Rotie from a top vintage. Enormous flavor profile is in check and balance. Long, complex and satisfying finish. Could stand up in a blind tasting to top Bordeaux and Napa Meritage. WOW. True excitement and indulgence for under $20."

2009 AR Guentota
90 points. "A dark, piercing opening with olive, black fruit and mild herbal aromas announces a ripe, full-force Malbec. That impression is confirmed on the full, creamy, jammy palate, where oaky, chocolaty flavors of syrupy blackberry and cooked brown sugar end in a smooth, vanilla-laden finish. Drink now through 2015."

89 points. "Saturated medium ruby. Aromas of black cherry, blackberry and bitter?chocolate, with a bit of porty superripeness as well as a mineral touch. Fat,?sweet and concentrated, with very primary flavors of black cherry, blackberry, licorice and menthol. Plenty of texture but not at all overly sweet on the slightly clenched back end. I'd hold off drinking this for at least 12 to 18 months."

2007 AR Guentota
91 points. "A deep, concentrated wine with a touch of raisin and latex on the nose. The palate is deep and pure, with cola, chocolate and pure berry flavors, and the finish has great persistence and warmth. Thick, ripe and balanced, with simple deliciousness and good texture."
Wine Enthusiast, May 2010

The Chronicle Recommends. "This complex wine is made entirely from fruit from the estate's 100-year old vines. Ripe berry perfume, spice and hints of moist earth, with plenty of barrel character and tannin."
San Francisco Chronicle, April 11, 2010

90 points. Medium ruby. Reticent aromas and flavors of dark berries, licorice, bitter chocolate and spicy oak. Juicy, supple and fruit-driven, with a pliant texture, a restrained sweetness and good depth to the middle palate. Finishes with good lingering fruit and sweet tannins. A very suave malbec bottling.
